The nice thing about Comfort Inns is that they serve a free breakfast in the morning as do a lot of the motels in the US. So we had breakfast and then we then continued in the rain down the Pacific Coast and enjoyed the great scenery. Crossed into Oregon by crossing the Columbia River which was very wide as it flowed into the Pacific ocean. The last time we saw the Columbia River was around Revelstoke in British Columbia just after we finished coming through the mountains. The Pacific coast in Washington was quite spectacular but nothing compared to the coast in Oregon. We followed Highway 101 along the coast all day and while it rained quite a bit, the rain did not distract from the beautiful scenery.
A lot of small towns along the coast, some of them fishing ports, some of them tourist cities with long beaches. We finally stopped in Newport for the night, again at a Comfort Inn for $67 plus a free breakfast. Great deal. Went to dinner at another fish restaurant called Georgios and why not since all the fish is fresh.
