Fuel 168.5 gal, eng 989.57;
The fuel gauge shows 126 gallons. We stayed in Bobcaygeon, last night and wandered around town. Had a great dinner at a local restaurant on the main drag. Remembered a bakery that we visited a couple of years ago and bought some bread and some very very delicious butter tarts. Through all our travels in the US, we could not find butter tarts and I really missed them.
One of the things I forgot about was the number of houseboats on this section of the Trent-Severn piloted by people who have little knowledge of how to operate a boat. Of course these things are like driving a tank down the 401 and there is little ability for the pilot to steer them. They are not too responsive. best thing I can say to any boater is - stay away from them.
The Trent-Severn Canal
We moved through several locks, through Balsam Lake and stopped below Kirkfield Lock for the night. As you drive into the lock it is very disconcerting because it looks like you will go off a cliff as you enter the tub. Makes you not want to get too close to the end of the tub. A very nice spot and quiet. There is a little restaurant at the top of the lock where we ate and which has reasonably good food. Watched the lock go up and down several times and it is quite amazing how the lock works.
