La Conner Lodge

Yesterday, I forgot to mention the lady walking with her dog along the main street of La Conner. Thought it looked like Pug and I confirmed that it was a Border Terrier when I asked the lady the breed. It was 6 months old and was full of energy jumping up and down like a jack in the box.

One of the things that is interesting is the flatness of the ground west of the mountains and Puget Sound - Almost like the Prairies or maybe the Holland Marsh except the earth not as rich as in the Marsh - more like clay. Anyway we left La Conner this morning but before we did we visited the La Conner Quilt Museum. Some very interesting quilts and artwork. They have a contest each year and this year's winners had their work hung on the walls of the museum.

We then drove down to Everett, where we visited our first restaurant that was included in the Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins book Bobby's Haiwiian Style Restaurant and Coconut Lounge but it was very good. Would never ever have gone into this place even if we could find it if it were not in the book. Interesting experience.

After leaving Everett we drove along I-5 to Olympia at the base of Puget Sound. There we turned north and found a room in Olympia for the night. Tomorrow we will follow highway 101 around the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park.
