lefty Kirkfield at around 9:15. Traveled through the remainder of the locks before Lake Simcoe and had a nice crossing of Lake Simcoe. Crossing Canal lake always makes me nervous as it is so shallow and there are deadheads. Best rule is to stay in the channal, although you wonder when you are reading 2 feet below the transducer which in The Old Grouch's case means the keel might be dragging in the mud. However we made ti unscathed.

Crossing of Simcoe was sunny and absolutely quiet. Thought we would stay at the Orillia City Marina but it was full - perhaps. Same as Kingston, the dockmasters would not take reservations, but said there was room but when you got close they said they had no room after two hours.

Anyways, we moved on past Orillia and through Lake Couchiching back to the Trent Severn Canal. Passed a few swing bridges that had to open for us. We decided to stay at the first lock we came across which was at Nice lock and there were a few other people tying up including some going east who missed the swing bridges as they closed at 5.
